Hola Todos Que Me Quieren!
So this will probably be a little shorter because we're going to the
Temple this week, which means a reduced P-day today because of that.
But this has been a great week as well! We've been a little unsure of
what exactly to do now that we're not visiting Francisco and Elizabeth
everyday, but we've managed to keep ourselves busy :p haha. Just a
couple blurbs about some things that have happened this week.
So most of the exciting things happened since Friday, so I'm going to
start there and then finish out the week. On Friday we had probably
the coolest, most exciting community service opportunity EVER! We had
the opportunity to help set up for an airshow they have here every
year. And an airshow obviously means airplanes, and lots of them! So
that was a HUGE blessing from the Lord to me, cause as y'all know, I
love airplanes. There weren't any flying around practicing while we
were setting up, but there were a lot of display planes out of all
types, including an F-14, F-16 and some other pretty new, impressive
jets, along with some older ones, including a couple rare planes, like
the P-39 (I think) of which they have one of the two still flying
models, and another WWII plane that's pretty rare. AND, we had a few
minutes where I got to sit in the cockpit of the F-14!! I had a second
where I couldn't remember if I was me, or Tom Cruise haha ;)
Unfortunately when we went there I was not thinking straight and I
didn't think, "oh, we're setting up for an airshow, which means my
favorite thing, airplanes. Maybe I should bring my camera." I just
went, "oh I'll be doing service, don't need anything besides me." So I
don't have any pictures, but I still really enjoyed that!
Then Saturday morning we went to visit someone that we met earlier
that week. We actually met her, Jenny, looking for someone else, but
got mixed up on the houses. She was sick, so we couldn't talk much
then with her, but we offered to leave a Harvest Blessing with her and
her family sometime later and she accepted and we set the appt. for
Saturday morning. So we went by and she let us in, and we had an
amazing blessing with the family! Jenny, the mom, was in tears
afterwards, and although the dad, Antonio, was pretty sneaky about it
I think he had a couple there as well. Their three kids were there as
well and "felt good" afterwards. They totally felt the Spirit very
strongly and they said that they wanted us to continue to come by when
we invited them to baptism, although they said they wanted to wait to
make that decision. But we have a lesson with them tonight, and we
plan on setting a baptismal date with them if we can! So pray for
them, the Reyes family!
Also, real quick, on Saturday Francisco and Elizabeth went to see the
Temple in Oakland! We didn't even have any idea they were going to do
that, but apparently someone in the branch invited them to go to the
temple for the sealing of one of the branch members, even though they
couldn't go in for it. They showed us pictures and said they really
enjoyed being there at the Temple. And on Sunday they paid their
Tithing! Even as I write about this I can't help but feel an
overwhelming joy and happiness and gratitude for this family and the
opportunity Heavenly Father gave me to be a part of their accepting
the Gospel. I have very few greater desires right now than to come
back and be there when they get sealed together as an eternal family.
I'm so grateful as well for my own eternal family and for our Heavenly
Father who gives me the opportunity to enjoy all the joys and
blessings of this Gospel. I know it is true.
I love y'all and hope this week is a wonderful week for y'all!
