This week has been pretty good. We were able to teach a number of
lessons this week, one of the struggles we're having now is turning
our "other" lessons into member present lessons. It's hard sometimes
in a branch because you have less people to work with, and in our case
we sometimes have slight conflicts between companionships trying to
take out the same member the same night... But it's all good, we just
need to put more effort on our part to talk to, and ask members to
come with us.
Also this week I finally feel like my facebook work is starting to
have some things going on. I taught lessons to two new investigators,
to a man named Arik who added me on "accident" a while ago, but who
I'm pretty sure was led to add me. He's kind of been missing in action
for a while or else I would have taught hime sooner. I also taught
someone named Jose who lives in... Ecuador, I think. He is really
interested and was a referral from a member if I remember correctly.
In our area we are working hard, we are working on always finding
investigators, and helping our current investigators to become
progressing. Probably the other thing we're trying hard to work on is
getting investigators to Sacrament Meeting. This week we had a number
of investigators that we thought were pretty set on coming, we texted
them Sunday morning to remind them, and then they didn't come. We
still don't know exactly what happened with them. But we'll work on
that, see what happened and help correct them with love.
We were able to teach Roberto y Veronica for the second time, and they
committed to read the Book of Mormon to receive the answer they are
looking for. We taught Dulce and recommitted her to praying day and
night. We also taught Hermano Ortega about the Sabbath Day and he said
he would come to Sacrament Meeting, but well... like I said he didn't
come. We also taught a few people that have been a little harder to
get lessons with, and hopefully they'll want to meet more with us and
make more time to learn.
Otherwise, we had Zone Conference (where President and Sister Alba and
the Assistants come to teach us) and President Alba extended the
commitment to us to start over reading the Book of Mormon from the
beginning and to read it all in 90 days! I've been really enjoying
reading it from the beginning for that challenge. I decided to read it
in Spanish, even though it takes a little longer to read, and I've
really noticed a differnce in how my Spanish is now and how it was
even a few months ago. It really doesn't make a very big difference in
my understanding between English and Spanish, and I think sometimes I
understand in Spanish better, probably because it's the language I've
been called to speak. I've really enjoyed reading through Lehi's
Vision, and the elaboration that Nephi saw as well. I have felt to
some extent a flowing of pure understanding as I've been reading
through those visions. Even in these few days I have strengthened my
testimony of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon much. I know that
it is the Word of God. I know that if we follow it's teachings, as
well as the teachings of the Bible, we will draw nearer to God with
every day. I know reading from its pages brings the Spirit into our
life, and thus brings the comfort, strength, guidance, and love of The
Lord with it. I love the Book of Mormon!
