Hola Familia y amigos!!
Well this week was a great week! The most obvious reason was that we
had General Conference, of course. It was a sort of strange General
Conference for me because while I thoroughly enjoyed all of the talks
and was greatly uplifted by them I had a strange experience this time.
While in the past I've often had specific talks or specific repeated
thoughts or phrases that seemed to answer my prayers and concerns,
this time there wasn't so much of that. I did receive answers, but
most of them came by way of the Spirit that I felt during Conf. and as
I reflected and pondered over what was said and what my questions and
concerns were. It was odd and something that hasn't really happened
before to me. Really as I think about it, it just strengthens my
testimony that God answers prayers through Conf. even when we don't
have the "perfect, miracle talk" that was given "just for you". That's
not to say that I didn't have a couple of talks that stuck out. I
particularly liked Elder Ballard's talk because it was very applicable
to both full-time missionaries and member missionaries, Pres. Monson's
talk Sunday Morning about Love, Elder Oak's talk about the Priesthood
and how the keys and authority work. I enjoyed Elder Holland's talk
about defending our faith in a world that is persecuting and rabidly
denying the truth more and more. And of course many, many more things
did I enjoy about Conference. I sincerely hope that y'all enjoyed it
as much as I did!
But that wasn't the only thing that made this week a good week. We had
a good week where we were blessed to be able to teach more than we
were last week. We also picked up a new investigator, Oscar, who was a
referral from the Hermanas a while back. We finally were able to catch
him at home, and taught him briefly. We hope to see him this coming
Saturday. We also had great lessons with Max and with Jose. We talked
about Prophets and invited them to General Conference. While they both
said they would come, neither of them were able to make it, but I know
they felt the Spirit in the lessons and we are hoping that we can
maybe show them parts of General Conference or something along those
lines to allow them to partake of a part of the Spirit that is felt in
General Conference. Unfortunately we weren't able to meet with Jorge
this week, he apparently has a really big project he's working on, but
he said that this week he'll be done with it, so hopefully soon we
will meet with him again. Unfortunately that does mean that he as well
can't make his baptismal date, but we have high hopes that in the near
future he will continue to progress and be baptized. We have lot's of
high hopes for this area and all the people in it!
Well, that's all that I have time to write! I hope all is going well
with y'all and I wish y'all the best!
