We had a nice visit with Elder Whitaker through FaceTime on Mother's Day. We talked for a little over an hour. We love the technology that allows us to see our son face to face!! (though, the connection was a little poor on his end and cut in and out often--but we just made him repeat himself) He has adjusted to his new area and likes it. He said they teach on average about 11 times a week, which comparatively was the best week he ever had in Napa. So, it is exciting that he is teaching more. He and his companion are using a car in this area. Even though he likes to be on a bike, he is not sad to have an air conditioned car for the hot summer. He is in an apartment with just his companion, Elder Teisina, but there are two other sets of Elders in the same apartment complex. He said he is very comfortable conversing in Spanish, and is looking forward to opportunities to use it when not on his mission. The missionaries in his mission get the chance to attend the temple once a quarter, which Elder Whitaker enjoys. He asked a favor of his family to "find" the name of a relative that he could bring to the temple with him the next time he goes. He looks so healthy and happy! It was such a treat to talk to him and see him! We miss him very much, but we are so proud of him and his service and dedication. --signed, Mom and Dad
